GERMANTOWN, Wis. — Christian Family Solutions (CFS) gives its first ever Excellence in Soul Care Award to Rev. Alan Siggelkow, a licensed clinical social worker and 12-year member of the CFS counseling care and services team. The award was established to recognize a counselor or staff member at CFS who is dedicated to providing evidence-based counseling care that is effectively and appropriately integrated with principles of the Christian faith.
CFS CEO Mark Klug says Rev. Siggelkow has received the award in recognition of his above-and-beyond leadership at CFS and service to the counseling profession. Rev. Siggelkow teaches a master’s level course on Christian counseling at Martin Luther College, serves on the CFS theological committee, and has written extensively on the topic of Christian counseling for CFS and other entities.
“Alan Siggelkow is devoted to effective Christian counseling in his own client work and is instrumental in teaching other clinicians,” says Klug. “He is a professional role model for many pastors and counselors here at CFS and beyond.”
Rev. Siggelkow earned his master of social work degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee along with a certificate in Marriage and Family Counseling. His two theological degrees were received from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, Wis.
Prior to joining Christian Family Solutions, Rev. Siggelkow was a professor of pastoral counseling and a counselor of students at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary. He is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and specializes in marriage, addiction, and geriatric counseling.
The CFS Excellence in Soul Care Award is named for Fred Matzke, a long time Christian counselor for CFS who inspired and exemplified excellent clinical care integrated with the healing power of the Gospel. Matzke began at CFS in 1968 and served in various capacities for 30 years, including in a leadership role as director of counseling services. He is co-author of The Counseling Shepherd (Northwestern Publishing House, 1988) along with Rev. Armin Schuetze. Matzke presented the award to Rev. Siggelkow at the 2022 CFS Counselors Retreat.
