LAKEVILLE, MN – Christian Family Solutions (CFS) has added academic assistance and tutoring to its ARMOR Day Treatment Program for Teens. This program enhancement integrates counseling and educational support to address both the psychological needs and the educational and emotional needs of students enrolled in the mental health day treatment program.
The ARMOR Day Treatment Program for Teens is a CTSS-certified program that provides intensive outpatient therapy for adolescents who are struggling with challenging mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, self-harming behaviors, or suicidal behaviors. During this uncertain time when many students are beginning the school year through online learning, many teens are further challenged by untraditional learning styles.
To support this program enhancement, Christian Family Solutions added an educational support provider to its team of day treatment clinicians. Steven Bacon joins CFS as a Mental Health Practitioner after serving the Minnesota Department of Human Services as a Behavior Modification Assistant. Bacon also has classroom experience, having served as a substitute teacher with the Hastings School District.
“It is critical that parents, teachers, and medical professionals remain attentive to the needs of teens who may be struggling with mental health issues. Isolation and the challenges of virtual schooling add another layer of stress for these teens,” says Cathy Henry, LICSW, ARMOR Program Director at CFS. “We are determined to provide the help teens and their families need, psychologically, emotionally, and educationally.”
Students enrolled in the ARMOR Day Treatment Program will receive mental health treatment at the CFS Lakeville Clinic three hours per day, and students may remain on site for tutoring and educational assistance in a structured, supervised environment.
